DITTO Satellite event "4-Dimensional Virtual Earth for Ocean Studies and Applications"

APL held the DITTO Satellite event "4-Dimensional Virtual Earth for Ocean Studies and Applications" on November 20 2023 at Miyoshi Hall, JAMSTEC Yokohama Campus, Japan and online with many International and domestic participants.

Topic:The ocean holds a paramount significance in shaping our existence and upholding the delicate equilibrium of Earth's climate and environment. Amidst the swift transformations occurring within the oceanic realm and our limited comprehension of the underlying mechanisms, a comprehensive evaluation of the repercussions of these changes on marine ecosystems and the global environment remains elusive. To address these challenges, the imperative lies in bolstering oceanic observations and advancing modeling research. This will enable us to accurately prognosticate variations and effectively anticipate forthcoming alterations, thereby facilitating the implementation of vital adaptation and mitigation strategies. Concurrently, with the rapid evolution of oceanic modeling and information systems, there arises a compelling necessity to establish a cohesive worldwide oceanic digital ecosystem. This visionary concept, encapsulated within the realms of DITTO* and 4DVE*, seeks to cultivate a collaborative platform fostering synergistic engagement amongst researchers, policymakers, and the wider public.
In order to discuss these and for making the alliance among various stakeholders, we are pleased to announce an upcoming virtual satellite event scheduled for November 20th, 2023. This event shall delve into the remarkable strides achieved in ocean data science and their transformative applications. The focal point of our discussions shall be the realization of a sustainable global ocean, fortified by our collective endeavors and to share the information from the DITTO Summit meeting being held at Xiamen during 9-12 November. Your participation and involvement in this enlightening endeavor are warmly encouraged, as we strive to harmonize our efforts toward safeguarding our planet's most vital resource—the ocean.
