Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) between Japan Marine Science and Technology
Center and Canada Department of Fisheries and Oceans,Science Sector
It has been officially decided that Japan Marine Science and Technology Center
(JAMSTEC, President Takuya HIRANO) to conclude a MOU with the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans, Canada (DFO) in Ottawa on March 20, 2000.
The DFO has conducted numerous observations in the Arctic Ocean and significant
results for clarifying the meteorological systems in the Arctic Ocean are expected
through a joint research between Japan and Canada under this Mou using research
resources available from both parties. (For example, DFO's expertise in the
field,Icebreaker *1. and others, and JAMSTEC's Oceanographic Research Vessel
"MIRAI", Ice Ocean Environmental buoy and others)'
