The Research Vessel "Natsushima" of JAMSTEC leave for Marine geology and geophysical survey in immediate response to the occurrence of the 2004 Off Western Coast of Sumatra Earthquake.

The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC: President Y Kato) announces that JAMSTEC's R/V Natsushima will leave on Feb 2, 2005 for an offshore survey around the epicenter area of huge tsunamis causing unprecedented damage around the Indian Ocean.
The progress of this survey will be released on the JAMSTEC's Homepage as quickly as possible.
