Lecture and Public Open Day Marking the 1,000th dive of
Manned Research Submersible "SHINKAI 6500"

The Japan Agency of Marin-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC; Yasuhiro Kato, President) will hold the event to mark the 1,000th dive of Manned Research Submersible "SHINKAI 6500"*1. The memorable 1,000th dive will be in the middle of March. "SHINKAI 6500" and its mother ship "YOKOSUKA"*2 will be open to public and the lecture meeting also will be held as follows;

Public Open :March 27, 2007 13:00~16:00 (15:30 end of registration)
March 28, 2007 10:00~16:00 (15:30 end of registration)
Lecture : March 28, 2007 16:00~17:00
Lecturer: Mr. Kazuma, Yamane, Nonfiction Writer (*3)
Title : "Achievement and Prospect of Deep-sea Research by Manned Research Submersible,SHINKAI6500"
Outline : His rare opportunity for experiencing on "SHINKAI 6500" and his expectation for deep-sea research, also, various images will be introduced.
Place :
Harumi Pier, Tokyo Port (See attached picture, in Japanese)
(Lecture will be held at Harumi Passenger Terminal.)
Admission :
Admission free and no pre-registration needed.
Precautions:
The event may be cancelled in the case of bad weather or other factors. In such a case, information will be posted in our Website: http://www.jamstec.go.jp/jamstec-j/event_old/event-old.html (The lecture will be held whatever the weather.)
No parking space for visitors.
People who wear high-heels or sandals, under the influence of alcohol are not allowed since the ship's floors are not even and slippery.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by adults.
