Japan Agency for Marine–Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC: President Asahiko Taira) will host its annual conference, “JAMSTEC 2015”, which is to introduce JAMSTEC’s research activities and achievements to the general public.
Under the theme of “Create New Values from Sea,” this year’s conference coves reports on the 1st year achievements for the 3rd mid-term plan and JAMSTEC’s prospective in a wide range of fields from 2015 onwards.
The Part I features 2014 achievements, goals of “next-generation technology for ocean resources exploration” in the “Cross-Ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP),” efforts for extreme weather predictions with a key word of “seamless” and research reports on arctic environments experiencing drastic changes. It is, then, followed by a special session about history and future of a manned submersible ”Shinkai 6500,”and a deep sea drilling vessel (D/V) ”Chikyu,” celebrating the 25th and 10th anniversaries respectively.
In the Part II titled “Innovation Developed by Next Generation Marine-Earth Science and Technology,” guest experts from academics, industries, politics, and media companies will share marine innovation ideas, success stories and expectations to JAMSTEC.
In addition, posters displaying JAMSTEC research activities and achievements in 2014 will be posted for additional information.
The meeting will also be broadcasted on internet.
