APL Director Dr. Swadhin K. Behera Selected for VAIBHAV Fellowship by Government of India

Behera Lab Director, Applications Lab, Institute for Value-Added Information Generation Division, has been selected for the first Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Fellowship, an award given by the Government of India to outstanding scientists of Indian origin.

The VAIBHAV Fellowships are open to overseas Indian and other scientists working on research projects in the fields of quantum science, artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer science, space, materials engineering, and earth sciences. The fellows are from the topmost institutes in Australia, Canada, Finland, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the US, and are selected by the Indian Government based on their outstanding research activities to do cooperative research with Indian institutes such as IISc(Indian Institute of Science), IUCAA(Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics) and the IITs(Indian Institutes of Technology) for the next three years on jointly identified projects.

The fellowship also aims to improve the research ecosystem of Indian higher education and scientific institutions by fostering academic and research collaboration between Indian institutions and the best institutions in the world.
