Capacity building in the Maritime Continent countries through field campaigns

Obtaining high quality oceanic and atmospheric data is the basis for an accurate understanding of global climate. It is also key that these data are available to anyone in a timely manner. JAMSTEC conducts field campaigns to collect observations in the Maritime Continent, which hosts various weather and climatic phenomena and acts as a heat engine in global atmospheric circulation. An in-situ observational network cannot be established without a sound understanding by local countries. To this end, we will train the next generation of scientists in the Maritime Continent countries through field campaigns.
