Research Institute for Marine Geodynamics(IMG), JAMSTEC, is planning a Chikyu research cruise to install a borehole observatory for monitoring seismogenic zone processes, including slow slip events, in the Nankai Trough in the latter half of 2023 .
Main objectives of this symposium are to 1) present an overview of the Nankai borehole observatory project and the CHIKYU cruise, 2) discuss about details of the implementation plan of the cruise, 3) solicit participants for the CHIKYU cruise, and 4) solicit future collaborations using expected data from the observatory.
